Tichina Vaughn from the Dresdner Ensemble, new as Klytemnestra, was the discovery of the evening for me, she is great. How this singer can express the terrible dreams pursuing her is profoundly shocking. She has the tones for the tragedy of a guilty queen, and her scenes of desperate solitude make her a tragic partner of Elektra.

'The Stuttgart Ring has some of the greatest singing and interpretation of the text and the music that I ever heard, and today I was totally enthralled at the last the Gotterdämmerung, and wish to review it as follows: 
First and foremost is the mezzo Tichina Vaughn as Waltraute (she was the Fricka in the Walkure as well.) I thought that Stephanie Blythe and Ewa Podles had rich voices...well, they do.. but this lady might have the most gorgeous, rich, luscious, vibrant mezzo voice imaginable. I see on her website that she is quite active, but if the Met does not get her, we need to stage a huge protest. I am trying to think of ANY mezzo I EVER heard with a richer and more luscious tone, and you know how many wonderful mezzos I have heard. I hope we hear more of Tichina Vaughn, as she is truly a sensation!!!'
